Glad the premiere of the upcoming feature film #MoneyBall starring Brad Pitt releasing this Friday took place in the city it will portray. Oakland deserves positive press, and its good to see that Hollywood made an effort. MoneyBall is based on the book barring the same name and the intricacies of utilizing baseball stats to build a quality team. Pitt plays A's GM Billy Beane, who I interacted with a few times while interning with the A's special events department nearly a decade ago. Hope its a good film. Brad's suit is amazing...Had to throw that in.

Sure you know Dubois, Garvey, Hughes, Hurston...But Claude McKay, Jean Toomer, Charlotte Mason...not so much. In context, who are the torchbearer's of urban renaissance today? Where are we? Who are we? What innovations are we introducing to our communities and the world at large? More questions than answers...
