For most of my life, people have known me as a builder.

An executive.

A strategist.

A marketer.

A negotiator.

An entrepreneur.

Someone who could take an idea, bring people around it, and make it real.

All of that is me.

But it has never been all of me.

There has always been the artist.

The part of me obsessed with proportion, sound, movement, texture, architecture, atmosphere, light, scent, clothing, music, objects and the way a beautiful experience can remain with you long after it ends.

For years, those instincts lived in different parts of my life.

Tashombe is where they become one.

I

The Return

My professional life actually began close to fashion.

I interned at Macy’s in infant layette and menswear and was offered a place in its buying and merchant program.

I imagined Milan.

Fashion Week.

Designers.

Ateliers.

Instead, I saw a future of cubicles, spreadsheets, inventory and SKUs of clothing someone else had created.

There was nothing wrong with that work.

It simply was not the relationship with fashion I wanted.

So I left.

Life took me through politics, business, sports, entertainment, development, marketing, hospitality and entrepreneurship.

I learned how power moves.

How brands become culture.

How ideas become enterprises.

How people gather.

How experiences create memory.

How to turn imagination into reality.

And now I have come back.

But not as a merchant.

As a creator.

The question is no longer:

What should be sold?

It is:

What deserves to be made?

II

The Maison

Tashombe is not simply a clothing label.

It is a Maison.

A worldview before a catalogue.

Fashion is the entry point, not the boundary.

Clothing.

Objects.

Music.

Furniture.

Interiors.

Architecture.

Film.

Food.

Hospitality.

Scent.

Places.

Experiences.

Different mediums.

One sensibility.

One composition.

I am interested in creating things worthy of existing.

Things with soul.

Things that gather memory.

Things people live with rather than simply consume.

A coat should travel.

Attend dinners.

Cross continents.

Witness celebration.

Survive heartbreak.

Age beautifully.

Perhaps one day be inherited.

That is living art.

III

Before it is seen, it should be felt

I have never experienced beauty through sight alone.

Beauty is multisensory.

Sound.

Touch.

Scent.

Taste.

Movement.

Temperature.

Light.

Space.

And ultimately, emotion.

A garment has weight.

A room has rhythm.

A dinner has tempo.

A scent can return you to a place you have not entered in decades.

A piece of music can change the emotional architecture of a room before anyone realizes what happened.

I make music, and rhythm is part of how I understand the world.

I hear cadence in movement.

I feel tension in proportion.

I see rhythm in repetition and line.

The medium changes.

The composition continues.

Before Tashombe is seen, it should be felt.

IV

The Work

Every Tashombe commission begins with a human being.

Not a demographic.

Not a customer profile.

A person.

How do they move?

What is their rhythm?

What do they want to communicate without speaking?

Who are they becoming?

Then we compose.

Cloth.

Weight.

Cut.

Texture.

Movement.

Line.

The finished work should not make someone feel disguised.

It should make them feel more completely themselves.

That is why Tashombe is intimate by design.

By invitation.

By introduction.

By relationship.

By commission.

Not because exclusivity is the point.

Because intimacy makes better work possible.

V

The Philosophy

At the center of Tashombe are a few ideas:

Purity.

Love.

Authenticity.

Balance.

Alignment.

Attraction.

Purity of material.

Love expressed through care.

Authenticity without performance.

Balance between restraint and expression.

Alignment between the inner life and the outer one.

Attraction as magnetism—the energy created when something is fully itself.

A person.

A garment.

A room.

A song.

An object.

You often feel it before you can explain it.

That is where I want Tashombe to live.

VI

Building the House

I am the Founder and Creative Director of Tashombe.

The vision, design language, emotional architecture and creative direction begin with me.

But a Maison is never built by one pair of hands.

I want extraordinary collaborators beside me.

A design partner who can challenge me, refine ideas with me and translate instinct into form.

Exceptional artisans and makers.

And exceptional business leadership capable of building the institution around the work.

Capital.

Production.

Operations.

Partnerships.

Infrastructure.

Growth.

Execution.

The vision is mine.

The work will be collaborative.

The standard will be uncompromising.

VII

Why Now

We are living in a culture of speed.

Algorithms.

Replication.

Mass production.

Disposable clothing.

Disposable images.

Disposable attention.

Tashombe moves in another direction.

Craft matters.

The human hand matters.

Material matters.

Hospitality matters.

Intimacy matters.

Spirit matters.

We believe luxury can mean something deeper than price or access.

We believe there is still value in making something carefully enough that another person may want to keep it for the rest of their life.

This is not nostalgia.

It is our response to the present.

VIII

Legacy

I think about mortality.

Not morbidly.

Clarifyingly.

Eventually titles disappear.

Positions become lines in biographies.

What remains is contribution.

What did I leave here?

What did I make that carried my hand, my imagination, my love and my point of view?

I think especially about my daughters.

I want them to know more than the résumé.

I want them to know my interior life.

My music.

My ideas.

My taste.

The things I loved.

The world I was trying to make.

I want them to be able to wear something I designed.

Hear something I composed.

Sit in something I imagined.

Enter a room I conceived.

And understand something about their father that words alone could never explain.

Because legacy is not simply what the public remembers.

Legacy is what the people you love are able to carry forward.

IX

The Invitation

Tashombe is being built now.

This is not a retrospective.

It is a beginning.

I am inviting people into that beginning.

People who want to wear the work.

People who want something created specifically for them.

People who want to collaborate.

People who want to invest in a creative house before the entire world can see what it is becoming.

Fashion is the entry point.

It is not the limit.

The ambition is to build a Maison capable of moving across clothing, objects, sound, space, hospitality and culture while retaining one unmistakable point of view.

Something intimate enough to belong to one person.

And expansive enough to become a world.

I began my professional life believing fashion might take me to Milan.

After everything that came after, I have found my way back.

But I am no longer waiting for fashion to take me anywhere.

I am building the house myself.

I do not only want to wear beautiful things.

I want to make them.

I do not only want to participate in culture.

I want to leave something inside it.

I do not only want to build companies.

I want to build a body of work.

Work with soul.

Work worthy of keeping.

Work capable of being inherited.

Work capable of outliving me.
